What is Post-Secondary Transition?

Post-Secondary Transition is the vital step that every student with a disability must take as they leave high school and move on to further education, employment and independent living. Early planning for this step into adulthood is so essential that the transition process is a key element documented in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

The Ohio Department of Education provides information on post-secondary transition and workforce development for students with disabilities on their website. This site contains many resources for those interested in learning more about transition and workforce development.

Region 10 State Support Team is committed to assisting districts, students and their families with the secondary transition process. Each year, we are active in supporting a Regional Transition Council, we remain active in cross-agency collaboration with the intent to keep districts, students and their families well-informed and connected through events and professional learning opportunities such as the It's YOUR Life! Regional Transition Fair and our newly developed Secondary Transition Virtual Series.
